Will I need to undress?

We usually look at the body for examination purposes and then put clothes back on. For example, we may need to see a body part like the knee or your back

How long will my treatment take?

It will be different for everyone but you will be given an indication at your consultation. Each follow up appointment is around 30-40 minutes duration

Can I use my medical insurance?

Yes. All insurances are different but we can give you a written receipt with which you can claim back your treatment cost

Is osteopathy suitable if I am pregnant?

Yes and there are different approaches based on the stage of pregnancy and the complaint

How soon can I bring in my baby after birth?

We treat babies days old. Whenever you feel ready and able. If there has been intervention or a bit of a traumatic birth the sooner the better

Does it matter how old I am?

No, we treat babies that are days old to people well into their nineties and beyond

How will I feel afterwards?

Its variable and the osteopath will give you more information at the time. It usually takes 2-3 days for the body to process a treatment

Will I get posture, exercise or lifestyle advise?

Yes, this is a big part of preventative strategies for becoming well and staying that way

Does treatment hurt?

Not usually. It does not involve forcing the body to move. We use the most gentle method in the osteopathic spectrum of treatment approaches

What happens during treatment?

The osteopath will very gently guide the problem area towards a release of tension using various motions that are present in the system. Please see our ‘how does it work’ section for more detail
